House Repair Works For The Poor

The House Repair Programme is under the Urban Poverty Eradication Programme of the  Ministry of Urban Wellbeing, Housing and Local Government (KPKT) .  Under this house repair programme, an allocation of RM15,000.00 per house is provided by the Federal Ministry to enable the Council to repair the houses for the poor registered under e-Kasih. The funding for this programme comes from KPKT and the Padawan Municipal Council is the implementer.

For the year 2017, the Padawan Municipal Council has successfully implemented and repaired 23 houses for the poor living in the Council’s area of jurisdiction. A total funding of RM344,493.04 was received by the Council in 2017. For Phase 1/2017, the Council repaired 15 houses with an allocation of RM224,602.95 and the repairs were completed on 9 June 2017. For Phase 3/2017, the Council repaired 8 houses with a funding of RM119,890.09 and the house repairs were completed on 20 November 2017.

The Ceremony For The Handing Over Of The Completed House Repair Works to the recipients was officiated by YB Cr. Ir. Lo Khere Chiang, Chairman of Padawan Municipal Council on Friday, 29 December 2017 at 9.00 a.m.  at the Desa Wira Resettlement Scheme, Batu Kawah Road, Kuching. 

This House Repair Assistance Programme for the poor registered in e-Kasih shall continue in 2018.

 Applicants for the House Repair Assistance Programme must fulfil the following conditions:

  1. The head of the household must be registered in e-Kasih with the District Office Kuching and confirmed as poor / living below the poverty line index;
  2. Staying in the Padawan Municipal Council’s area of jurisdiction;
  3. The house they are living in is in poor or dilapidated condition;
  4. Own their own land or own house. If the land / house where they live in does not belong to them, then the consent from the land / house owner must be obtained.

The Application Forms For House Repair Financial Assistance can be obtained from the Padawan Municipal Council and all applications must be submitted to the Padawan Municipal Council.
