KUCHING: A burst underground water pipe deprived 12 families in Kampung Haji Baki near here of clean water during the Chinese New Year holiday period.
The water disruption on the first day of the Chinese New Year (Jan 28) inconvenienced those celebrating the occasion.
Batu Kitang assemblyman Lo Khere Chiang said he notified Kuching Water Board (KWB) which was still rectifying the problem yesterday.
He reported that 10 families had got back their water supply since the repair works started on Wednesday.
“The major pipe burst meant families at Block C Kampung Haji Baki had dry taps for over five days.
“Ten families have had their water supply back and KWB is working to re-supply the remaining two families,” he said.
Lo who is also Padawan Municipal Council chairman went to the village yesterday to check on the progress of the repair work.
